From Principal Robbie Reno
Here at KHS and SFHS, the staff and I are thrilled to welcome both our new and returning students back to the halls of Kuna High School (KHS) and Swan Falls High School (SFHS) for another exciting year! We hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable summer and is ready for a new year.
There are some exciting building updates and upgrades at KHS. This summer, KHS has been a very busy place with amazing contractors doing all the work. Phase 1 of 2 in our HVAC system upgrade, made possible through HB521 and the support of our state legislature. Phase 1 replaced 90 heating and cooling units in the building. If you remember last year, some of our classrooms had no AC or heat. Most of these issues have been resolved, and these much-needed improvements make our classrooms more comfortable for students and staff. Phase 2 next summer will replace all of the units on the roof and the main cooling tower. Due to HB521, we were able to resurface our long-overdue asphalt and paint new crosswalk lines in the parking lots to make them safer.
During back-to-school days, you may have noticed the new floors on the first floor. This summer, our boiler room flooded most of the downstairs cafeteria, offices, and hallways, causing extensive damage to the main hallways and commons areas. While it was a challenging situation, it turned into an opportunity to improve our school with insurance money covering the cost. We were able to install brand new flooring, featuring Kaveman-themed designs in the cafeteria, main entrance, and hallway. This work was made possible by
Heritage Hardwood Flooring. We appreciate and thank
ServPro for getting the school from flooded to clean in a short amount of time.
If you were in the commons, it may have been a lot brighter due to new lights installed. Thanks to a rebate program from Idaho Power, we’ve also upgraded the overhead lighting in the commons area, making our spaces not only brighter but more energy-efficient.
Our last upgrade was that we were able to resurface and paint our gym floor with money from developers and a local company.
Soriano Sport Floors did an amazing job, making the space brighter and beautiful. Come check it out.
All of their updates have made KHS brighter, safer, and climate-controlled. I am excited for everyone to experience the refreshed look and feel of our school. These changes reflect our ongoing commitment to providing a safe, welcoming, and inspiring learning environment.
We can’t wait to see our students back on Thursday, August 21, and kick off another amazing year filled with learning, growth, and Kavemen spirit!
Welcome back!
