Our Kaveman Spotlight shares stories, advice, and tips from current students and alumni to inspire Kavemen as they explore college, careers, and life after high school. |
Meet Eriks Garsvo, Class of 2011. While at Kuna High School, Eriks discovered his passion for history after being named History Student of the Year in 2009. That recognition sparked a journey that led him to pursue both an associate’s and a bachelor’s degree in history.
After graduating, Eriks combined his education with hands-on experiences by volunteering in local museums. Those early opportunities gave him valuable skills and connections, ultimately paving the way to his current role as Director of the Owyhee County Museum. He’s living proof that blending education with real-world experience can open meaningful career pathways.
Along the way, Eriks learned the importance of time management, organization, teamwork, and creativity—skills that continue to serve him in leadership. His advice to current students is simple but powerful: “Enjoy your time at KHS and try different things. It’s okay to make mistakes and adjust your plans—your future isn’t written yet. Find something you love, gain experience early, and keep moving toward it.”
When he’s not preserving history, Eriks spends his time restoring cars, working with model trains, and collecting vintage décor. His story reminds us that following your passions, exploring pathways, and taking chances can lead to a career you love.

The FAFSA, or Free Application for Federal Student Aid, is a form that students in the United States fill out to apply for financial aid to help pay for college or career school. It determines eligibility for various types of aid, including federal grants, loans, and work-study programs.
The FAFSA form will open on October 1, 2025 for students to complete for the 2026/2027 school year. We will work on this together during Application Day.
