Brian Ware, a 1987 graduate of Kuna High School, is currently serving as the CFO/Controller for 1,4GROUP, Inc. His career in accounting was inspired early on by his high school accounting teacher, whose guidance sparked a passion that carried him through college and into his professional life.
After high school, Brian pursued a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting, laying the foundation for a successful career in finance and leadership. Over the years, he has enjoyed helping people see the story behind the numbers, enabling them to make informed decisions, solve complex problems, and reach their goals. Mentoring new accounting colleagues has also been a deeply rewarding part of his career.
Reflecting on his journey, Brian advises students to find the accounting path (or career path) that intrigues them and dive in fully. “Listen to experienced professionals, welcome new ideas, and ask questions,” he says. These habits have been key to his success.
Brian acknowledges that balancing work and life can be challenging, especially during long hours in tax season, but he emphasizes the importance of finding ways to release stress through hobbies and non-work activities.
Looking back on his KHS years, Brian fondly remembers making new friends and being welcomed into the community when he moved to Kuna as a freshman. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, weightlifting, cooking, and spending time with family.
