William S. Miller III, Kuna High School Class of 2018, turned his love for anatomy and physiology into a rewarding career path. Inspired by KHS’s Health Professions program, William pursued a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science, along with EMT and CNA certifications, before becoming a Medical Laboratory Scientist and now a medical student at the University of Washington School of Medicine. His passion for medicine began when he shadowed his aunt, an MLS, and saw a peripheral blood smear of a patient with Sickle Cell Disease — an experience that captivated him and set him on his path. William’s early healthcare experiences as a CNA, ER tech, and later working in a hospital lab deepened his love for transfusion medicine and hematology. He finds joy in seeing patients recover and teaching students, describing the “lightbulb moments” as some of his favorites. William encourages current KHS students to focus on their grades, develop good study habits, and explore different interests to discover what truly inspires them — and to enjoy high school while it lasts. He recommends joining HOSA or other clubs to build community and gain valuable experience. Outside of medicine, William enjoys video games, board games, reading, and spending time with friends, and he reminds himself, “I’m just another body floating through space,” as a way to stay grounded through life’s challenges.

It’s hard to believe, but the 2025 Festival of Trees is almost here! This year’s Festival runs Wednesday, November 26 – Sunday, November 30, with volunteer opportunities for move-in on Sunday, November 24.
Funds raised at the Festival will support life-saving cardiovascular care at the Saint Alphonsus Heart Institute, giving Idahoans access to world-class care close to home.
Students (age 14+), families, and teachers are some of our most valuable volunteers. This is a fun way for students to earn community service credits, help their community, and participate in a memorable event. Students should sign up on their own using their personal or parent email, not their school email.
📅 Volunteer registration deadline: Friday, November 14, 2025
📞 Questions? Call Janelle at 208-861-9949 or email iowa_girl10@msn.com
We can’t wait to see you at the Festival of Trees and make this year the most spectacular one yet!
