Jenny Jenkins has built a meaningful career in the mental health field, currently working as a case manager and on her path to becoming a therapist. Her interest in helping others began with her family and through hands-on experiences in work-based learning during high school. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Special Education and completed Target Care Coordinator training, which laid the foundation for her current role.
Jenny’s journey started in special education, where interactions with coworkers and marginalized populations deepened her passion for making a difference. She finds her work rewarding because it allows her to help others and create positive change in people’s lives. Her advice to current students is to try a variety of experiences and, if planning to pursue education beyond a bachelor’s degree, to start immediately rather than waiting.
Time management, prioritization, and study habits have been key to her success, helping her balance going back to school while raising children and navigating financial challenges through scholarships and grants. Some of her favorite high school memories include graduating and spending time outdoors camping and hiking.
Jenny lives by the motto: “Time will go by either way, what will you do with that time?” She encourages students to make the most of their opportunities and experiences.
