We are thrilled to feature Travis Edwards in this month’s Alumni Spotlight! A 1996 graduate of Kuna High School, Travis has returned to his roots and is currently making a difference right here on campus as an Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor.
Raised on a local dairy farm, Travis’s passion for agriculture was sparked at a young age. While he initially navigated his early career in the industry—including a stint as a cheesemaker and production supervisor for Leprino Foods—the influence of his own Kuna teachers never left him. Seeking a career that combined his love for ag with a desire to impact young lives, Travis transitioned into education, earning a Master of Arts in Education from UC Davis.
Travis’s journey is a testament to the power of staying in motion. After attending BYU-Idaho, BYU, and UC Davis, his path eventually led him back home. "Teaching brought me home to Kuna, where I knew I wanted to be," Travis shared. He now finds immense fulfillment in helping students explore their own career interests as they transition into adulthood.
Travis’s favorite high school memory is a "vault" back in time: breaking the school pole vault record and winning the state championship during his senior year. He credits that achievement with building the confidence that carried him through the next stages of his life.
When asked what advice he would give to students today, Travis emphasizes the value of a strong work ethic and persistence: "Try lots of things to learn where your interests lie... Keep your head up and your feet moving forward, and you'll build a good life. If you want something, work for it!"
Outside of the classroom, you can find Travis enjoying the outdoors, camping, fishing, or working on farm equipment with his family. We are so proud to have alumni like Travis continuing the Kaveman legacy!
