A Great Start to the School Year

Today marked the first day of the 2026–2027 school year at Kuna High School and Swan Falls High School, and we are off to a great start! It was exciting to see our students back in the buildings, reconnecting with friends and staff and ready for the year ahead.

I want to thank our teachers and staff for the time and effort they put into preparing for today. Their hard work helped create a positive and welcoming first day for our students.

I also want to thank our parents and families for helping students prepare for the year and arrive ready to learn. Your support and partnership make a difference, and we look forward to working with you throughout the school year.

The staff and I are all very excited about the many opportunities ahead and look forward to making this a successful year for every student. Go Kavemen!

KHS Construction Update

Kuna High School Construction & Facility Update

We appreciate everyone’s hard work over the summer to complete the final phase of our HVAC system replacement and the patience of our community while our school was closed.

Technical crews have made the most of their time this week at Kuna High School, and the facility is safe and ready for students, though there are a few known items we are actively addressing over the coming days:

  • Fire Safety & Monitoring: All fire alarm systems are fully functional. Pending the final state inspection, the City Fire Marshal has requested that personnel physically monitor the building when students are present. Please be assured that all systems are operational—they require the final official inspection and sign-off.

  • Air Conditioning: The majority of classrooms will enjoy something not fully functional for the past several years—air conditioning. Approximately three to four classrooms require additional work before their air conditioning is fully operational. We have provided fans for those rooms in the interim. Rooms with newly installed HVAC systems are not operational due to programming. Technicians are working through each night this week to get each room online and working.

  • Vestibules: Crews are putting the finishing touches on the vestibule areas. They are safe and usable, and staff will be monitoring these entry points while final work wraps up.

Parking Passes Update

Dear Families,

Thank you all for your patience and support as we transition to our new parking process!

We are nearly finished with our rollout, with only a small number of parking passes remaining unclaimed or unpaid. To ensure we can finalize our rosters and accommodate as many students as possible, please take note of the following deadline:

Deadline: Friday, August 14, 2026, at 3:00 PM

Action Required: Any student who has requested, received, or bought a parking pass must have their invoice paid in full and their pass picked up by this time.

Important Note: Passes that remain unpaid or uncollected after 3:00 PM on Friday, August 14, will be forfeited. Students currently on the waiting list will be notified after the deadline if a spot opens up for them.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter and for helping us keep our parking system running smoothly!

Best regards,

Mr. Reno

New Drop Off and Pick Traffic Patterns

IMPORTANT: New Drop-Off and Pick-Up Traffic Patterns for the 2026-2027 School Year
Dear Kuna High School Parents and Guardians:

Thank you for going through our new drop-off and pick-up today. We will be making some adjustments to parent pick-up. Look for drop-off area signs at parent pick-up in the front of the school. Having this area will help with the flow. This area will be down towards the gym. Please drop off only in this area.

Parent Drop-Off & Pick-Up Zone

  • Location: East (Faculty) parking lot.
  • Details: All parents driving their students to and from school must use the East Faculty Lot. Please drop off and pick up students along the curb towards the gym. For everyone's safety, only allow students to exit or enter your vehicle when fully stopped alongside the curb.

Special Education Busing

  • Location: West (Student) parking lot.
  • Details: To provide a safe and accessible environment for our students requiring specialized transportation, all Special Education buses will load and unload exclusively in the West Student Lot. Parents should not use this lot for regular drop-offs or pick-ups.

Standard Busing (All Other School Buses)

  • Location: Porter Street.
  • Details: All standard school bus routes will continue to drop off and pick up students along Porter Street before and after school.

Shuttles (Transfers)

  • Morning and after school bus shuttles (transfers) to and from Swan Falls High School: Pick up and drop off before and after school will be along Porter St.
  • Bus shuttles (transfers) at lunch time will be in the West (student) lot.

Tips for a Smooth Commute

  • Pack your patience: Traffic is always heaviest during the first week of school. Please plan for an extra 10–15 minutes as everyone adjusts to the new patterns.
  • Stay alert: Please watch for pedestrians, keep speeds low in all campus zones, and avoid distracted driving or phone use in the parking lots.
  • Follow staff directions: School staff will be out assisting with traffic flow during the first few weeks. Please follow their signals to ensure safety for everyone.

Thank you for your cooperation and partnership in keeping Kuna High School safe and efficient for our students!

Sincerely,

Kuna High School Administration
