Thank you for a great first quarter

Dear Kuna Families,

As we hit first quarter of this school year, I want to extend thank you for your constant partnership and presence across our schools.

Whether cheering at athletic games, enjoying student concerts, supporting students in jog-a-thons, rooting for teachers in fun traditions like "Kiss the Pig," or connecting during teacher conferences, your support enriches our district.

Thank you to our elementary families who attended conferences earlier this month, and a quick reminder to our secondary families that fall conferences are fast approaching!

We also appreciate the time dedicated to staff professional learning each Wednesday as well as this past Friday. Friday's staff development day was packed with high impact work across all grade levels and roles:

  • Elementary Teams: Digging deep into assessment tools within our new Language Arts curriculum to better track and support student literacy.

  • Secondary Staff: Kicking off with an inspiring "Chase Greatness" keynote from guest speaker Chase Livingston, then focusing on high-impact instruction and learning targets aligned with priority standards.

  • Paraprofessionals & Classified Staff: Strengthening skills in key instructional and behavior support strategies.

Thank you to our teachers and staff for continuously striving for excellence to best serve our students!

It has been a wonderful start to autumn, and watching our students excel academically, creatively, and athletically is a constant source of joy.

In this edition of the newsletter, you will also find important details regarding our upcoming Supplemental Levy election on the November ballot, along with information on how to participate and ensure your vote counts.

Please note that Election Day is a no-school day for students. No school days can fill up quickly with activities, and we encourage please take a moment to make a voting plan!

Below you'll find information about the levy and all your voting options.

Thank you for your continued partnership and dedication to Kuna's students.

Marcus Myers, Superintendent

KSD Supplemental Levy on Nov. 3 Ballot

On Nov. 3, 2026, Kuna School District voters will consider renewing the district’s supplemental levy for two years at the same amount $3,609,360 a year.

If approved, the levy will be used for salaries and benefits for teachers, coaches, and school resource officers for the next two school years to maintain opportunities and supports for students.

Specifically, funds would maintain the following:
  • 40 teachers
  • 30 coaching stipends
  • A School Resource Officer

NO TAX INCREASE
Tax Impact: The estimated average annual cost to the taxpayer on the proposed levy is a tax of $53.64 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value, per year, based on current conditions. The proposed levy replaces an existing levy that expires on June 30, 2027, and that currently costs $53.64 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value. Therefore, if the proposed levy is approved, the tax per $100,000 of taxable assessed value is not expected to change. The proposed levy would be assessed for two years.

Supporting Our Students: Feed the Kavemen Fund!

The Kuna Education Foundation has established the Feed the Kavemen Fund!

In our district, "Kavemen" is an inclusive term representing all Kuna School District students, regardless of individual school mascots. This new fund connects community resources directly to our school meal programs, ensuring every child stays nourished and ready to learn.

How the Fund Helps

Donations go directly to district schools for the sole purpose of covering lunch costs and providing snacks for students. You can choose to support a specific school or contribute to the general fund. General donations are distributed based on school need and help purchase on-hand snacks.

Why Your Support Matters
  • Middle & High Schools: Secondary students are not permitted to carry negative lunch account balances.
  • Elementary Schools: Elementary students may accrue negative balances. Over the past few years, our six elementary schools have accumulated between $18,000 and $22,000 in lunch debt annually.
