Dear KHS/SFHS Families,
I wanted to share a few safety updates regarding school traffic:
Starting today, the school zone flashing lights for 20 mph will run from 10:30 am to 11:25 am through lunch and intervention. Thank you to ACHD for fulfilling this request to improve safety around our parking lot exits and entrances during intervention and lunch times! Students should exit slowly, watch for pedestrians, and be patient, as exiting from KHS takes about 12-14 minutes.
Additionally, Mrs. Lovelady is working with ACHD to make sure proper signage is posted and look at a possible flashing light installation for Swan Falls High on Linder Road. These improvements will help with the increased traffic on Linder Road from the new Whisper Meadows neighborhood. When they exit out of Swan Falls, please ensure they wait single-file rather than double-file, double-turning, or cutting through the neighborhood to make U-turns. As a reference, exiting from Swan Falls takes about 8-9 minutes.
We could also use your help with our student drivers. Please remind them to be patient, slow down, and drive safely when exiting either school. If you could discuss this with your student, it would be much appreciated. Thank you for your partnership in keeping our kids safe!

The Kuna High School Marching Band delivered a triumphant performance this past weekend at the Treasure Valley Festival of Bands, hosted by Vallivue High School. Under the guidance of Director Mr. Krall, KHS earned First Place in the Open Large Class amidst formidable competition, while also taking home top honors for Best Visual Performance. We applaud Director Krall and the entire ensemble for their dedication, precision, and artistic excellence.

Ryan O'Leary teaches 9th and 10th grade English at Swan Falls High School. With nine years of teaching experience, he remains passionate about studying stories and guiding students to analyze and create their own narrative works. He is continually refining his classroom approach and assignments to ensure learning is engaging and enjoyable for everyone.
|
In Mr. O'Leary's English classes, students are diving deep into narrative structures and character development across different grade levels. His ninth-grade students recently explored "The Hero's Journey," applying its twelve-step process to their favorite books and movies through creative poster presentations. Meanwhile, his tenth graders examined the process of enlightenment, designing visual representations to map out how beloved characters achieved self-discovery and enlightenment. Both projects showcase the continuous dedication and high-quality effort his students bring to their coursework each week.

Terry Adolfson brings over two decades of dedicated teaching experience and a rich background in applied technical science to the classroom. Raised in Idaho's Treasure Valley, he graduated from Nampa High School before serving six years in the United States Navy as a Nuclear Reactor Operator.
Following his military service, Terry earned his degree in education from the University of Idaho. For the past 24 years, he has been passionate about inspiring students, blending rigorous real-world concepts with hands-on learning—turning complex subjects like physics and mechanics into engaging, accessible, and interactive classroom experiences.
|
Welcome to Mr. Adolfson’s Science Class at KHS, where learning isn’t just about sitting at a desk—it’s full-throttle action!
Right now, students are diving headfirst into Newton’s 3 Laws of Motion and launching into an epic Projectile Lab! Instead of just filling up notebooks with endless notes, they are putting physics to the test: calculating trajectories, analyzing forces, and watching science come alive right before their eyes. Whether it's launching objects through the air or uncovering the forces that drive our universe, Mr. Adolfson makes sure science is hands-on, high-energy, and completely unforgettable!

A quick reminder that there are less than two weeks left to take part in ITD’s 3rd annual Name a Snowplow contest for Idaho students in grades 6–12. Homeschool students can join too.
Classrooms can submit original snowplow names through the end of October. ITD employees will vote, and two plows in each of our six regions will get student‑chosen names. Winning classes will get a visit from their snowplow and driver.
This is an easy, fun way to introduce winter driving safety—especially for students preparing for driver’s ed.

If you are a first-time voter, have recently moved, or have moved to Idaho from another state, please take a moment to check or update your voter registration status.
The next election is Tuesday, November 3, 2026 and no school will be held that day. This is an example of a sentence to begin a paragraph.
