Dear KHS/SFHS Families,
Join us as Kuna High School honors our nation’s heroes at our annual Veterans Day Assembly on Wednesday, November 11, 2026. This tradition brings our Kaveman community together to express our gratitude to local veterans, active-duty service members, and military families for their sacrifice and service. We invite all KHS families, local veterans, and community members to join our students, staff, JROTC, and music ensembles in the KHS Gymnasium from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM for this special morning of honor and tribute. Visitors are asked to check in at the main entrance prior to the event.
This issue features an upcoming events calendar highlighting the Harvest Dance, 8th-grade tours, basketball games, and Rake Up Kuna. Staff spotlights celebrate Ms. Haueter’s classes celebrating Día de los Muertos, Ms. Bauerle’s PE model and softball preparations, and Ms. Loveless’s AVID pumpkin-painting and Economics country projects. The newsletter rounds out with KHS theater's production of Dracula, Dr. Touchstone's oceanography plate tectonics lesson, and Epilepsy Awareness Month initiatives.
Take Care,
Robbie Reno

¡Hola! Ms. Ninna Haueter (“Señora Haueter”) is thrilled to be teaching Spanish at Swan Falls High School! Originally from Chile, she grew up on the beautiful island of Curaçao before moving to the U.S. at age 17. After earning her associate’s degree from BYU-Idaho (Ricks College) and raising five wonderful children, she returned to school to complete her bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education – Spanish at Boise State University. Now in her 5th year of teaching at SFHS, Ms. Haueter loves sharing her passion for the Spanish language and rich multicultural perspectives with her students!

We had such a fun week getting ready for Día de los Muertos! The students jumped right into the traditions by making colorful papel picado, crafting bright cempasúchil (marigold) flowers, and coloring traditional calaveras to deck out the room. To honor loved ones, pets, and famous figures who have passed away, our classes worked together to build special community altares. Plus, our Spanish 4 students went all out and created their own personal mini-altares using shoeboxes!
Photo Descriptions:
- Papel Picado & Flowers: Students crafting colorful paper banners (papel picado) and bright yellow marigolds (cempasúchil) for classroom decorations.
- Calaveras: Students coloring and decorating traditional skull art (calaveras).
- Spanish 4 Project: Individual shoebox altares created by Spanish 4 students highlighting a loved one or famous figure.

Ms. Bauerle is excited to be back for her second year at Kuna High School and her third year of teaching overall! Originally from Orange County, California, she moved to Idaho six years ago and graduated from Boise State University with a bachelor’s degree in K-12 PE and Health. After starting her career teaching elementary PE in the Nampa School District and coaching softball at Skyview High School, she achieved her goal of teaching at the high school level. Now serving as the PE/Health Department Head, teaching Team Sports and Adapted PE, and taking on the role of Head Softball Coach, Ms. Bauerle feels truly blessed to be part of the KHS family!

Exciting things are happening in Ms. Bauerle's physical education classes and the Kuna High School softball program! Whether she is helping students develop leadership skills in the gym or preparing athletes for the upcoming softball season, Ms. Bauerle is dedicated to creating opportunities for students to grow, succeed, and have fun.
PE Spotlight: More Than Just a Game
Ms. Bauerle's PE classes are kicking off one of the students' favorite units—basketball! Through the Sport Education Model (SEM), she creates an authentic team sports experience that goes beyond simply playing the game.
Students join permanent teams and take on leadership roles such as head coach, referee, statistician, and fitness trainer. They participate in practices, games, and tournaments while developing teamwork, independence, responsibility, and sportsmanship.
Ms. Bauerle also brings creativity and excitement to her adapted PE classes, where every day offers something different. One student favorite is Fun Friday, when students can choose from activities such as basketball, bowling, spikeball, hula hooping, and more. Her goal is to make physical education engaging, inclusive, and accessible while meeting the individual needs of her students.
KHS Softball: Preparing for Spring Success
Beyond the classroom, Ms. Bauerle serves as the head coach of the KHS softball team, and preparations for the spring season are already underway!
Throughout the fall, the softball athletes have been working hard to sharpen their fundamentals, improve their strength, and build strong team chemistry. Ms. Bauerle is excited about the energy, dedication, and commitment these athletes are bringing to the program.
With a focus on hard work, teamwork, and continued improvement, Ms. Bauerle and the KHS softball team are looking forward to an exciting spring season.
From the gym to the softball field, Ms. Bauerle is making a positive impact on KHS students and athletes! Go Kavemen!

This year marks Ms. Loveless’ 9th year teaching at Kuna High School! A Treasure Valley native and Capital High School graduate, she comes from a long line of educators, so a passion for teaching and sparking curiosity in the social sciences is truly in her blood.
Ms. Loveless began her teaching journey at North Star Charter School, where she taught for two years. She then expanded her horizons outside the traditional classroom—spending four years as the Outdoor Program Manager and Camp Director for the Girl Scouts of Silver Sage, followed by another four years as a Program Specialist in the educational industry. She is thrilled to bring all of these diverse experiences back to the classroom at KHS!
Outside of school, you can usually find Ms. Loveless taking or teaching group fitness classes, practicing her swing on the golf course, or escaping to the mountains in McCall.
She is looking forward to a fantastic school year!

🎃 AVID: Celebrating Hard Work & Teamwork After diving deep into research for our major APA career research papers, our AVID students earned a well-deserved celebration! To build relational capacity and embrace the Halloween spirit, students spent time painting pumpkins together. Check out their creative designs in the photos below!
📊 Economics: Global Economies & Trade in Action We are currently immersed in our Macroeconomics unit! Students have been analyzing core economic indicators—such as GDP, inflation, and unemployment rate—to gauge the financial health of nations. To put this knowledge to work, each student chose a country to research and created a Macroeconomic and Global Trade One-Pager highlighting their nation's economic status and international trade policies.

A massive shoutout and congratulations to our incredibly talented Kuna High School Theater students for their spellbinding, three-night run of Dracula from October 27th–29th! Their performance was nothing short of ghoulishly amazing, bringing intense dramatic flair, eerie atmospheric perfection, and unforgettable character portrayals to the stage each evening. To top off a phenomenal theatrical production, the spooky maze was an absolute masterpiece of thrills and chills that left audiences thoroughly terrified and amazed. Thank you to the dedicated cast, stage crew, and directors for putting in countless hours of hard work to deliver a truly haunting and spectacular experience for our school and community!

Cool things are happening in Oceanography. Students are learning about plate tectonics and how it impacts the sea floor and ocean ecosystems. This week they were modeling what happens with plate boundaries using frosting (magna), graham crackers (Continental crust), and fruit roll ups (oceanic crust).
